City Life and Country Life (Second Draft Compare and Contrast Essay (2))

                                                                                                                                        Deniz YEŞİLYURT
                                                          City Life and Country Life
People have different lifestyles which are city lifestyle and country lifestyle. City and country lifestyles are similar in that the people's aims are to maintain their lives according to certain criterions. However, the city life and the country life have differences. Five important differences between city life and country life are job opportunities, opportunities of education, cost of living, environment, and entertainment.

To begin with, it is clear that job opportunity is one of the differences between city life and country life.  The city has much more job opportunities. People in the city have many chances to find a job as food, textile and construction industries have developed. In the countries, there are fundamental jobs. Unlike people in the city, people who live in the country can make a living with agriculture and livestock. Nowadays, areas of business are narrowing because of some reasons such as land fragmentation through inheritance, decreasing productivity in agricultural production, mechanization in agriculture. Therefore, people migrate to the city where alternative job opportunities can be found.

Secondly, city differs from country in that city has more opportunities of education.  Generally, schools in the city have modern technology such as computers, smart boards. Also, there are a lot of options to get  better education such as special schools or courses. Therefore, the education level is higher. In contrast, level of education is lower due to lack of school in the country. The cause of this is not only lacking of school but also lacking of equipment and teachers. For example, students in the country have to study in the same class even though their grades are different. The reason is deficiency of teachers and classes.

Thirdly, city and country are different in that cost of living in the city is higher while it is lower in the country. For example, people in the city have to pay much money for housing, food, beverage and clothing. Unlike people in the city, people who live in the country pay less money. For example, they have their own houses. They can cultivate fruit and vegetables.  They need not pay much money for basic needs.

The next difference between city and country is the environment.  As there is no traffic, no noise, natural beauties and clean air in the country affect people positively. People in the country can go to the forest which is relaxing for people when they are bored. Despite of fascinating things of country, some people do not prefer living in a country. As they are accustomed to city, they feel bored in there. Unlike country, buildings which are built by cutting the trees are suffocating for people in the city.  When they want to walk or see green areas, they can not find anywhere. At the same time, noise and air pollutions have negative effects on people.

Lastly, city life and country life are different from each other in terms of entertainment. While facilities of entertainment are limited in the country, there is no limitation in the city. There are a lot of different activities in the city. For example, when you feel bored in the city, you can go to the cinema or theatre. You can find a lot of places to spend time with your friend such as café, shopping malls. Unlike city, there are not many places to go and anything to do in the country. Generally, children in the country play traditional children’s games such as hide and seek, jump rope, skipping stones in order to have fun.

To summarize, city life and country life have advantages and disadvantages. Consequently, city and country lifestyle are different from each other in terms of job opportunities, opportunities of education, cost of living, environment and entertainment. While the city has unlimited job opportunities, in the country they are limited. In the city, level of education is higher, but in the country it is lower. Unlike country life, cost of living is higher. While the environment is clear and relaxing in the country, it is stupefying in the city. City has different types of activities, but country does not have. In my opinion, living in a city is better than living in a country.

                                                                                                                                Deniz YEŞİLYURT
                                             Being Single and Married
People can’t live alone because of their creation. They need someone every time. Therefore, marriage is an important factor on human life. It has changed people’s lives. It has positive effects on people life. At the same time, marriage can affect people negatively. When you get married, you change your habits  which you have in your single life. As a result, being married and being single have differences. Three important differences between being married and being single are freedom, responsibility and companionship.
To begin with, it is clear that freedom is one of the differences between single people and married people. In the single life, people don’t have limitations. Entertainment is at the forefront in the single life. They come together with their friends any time and they can do what they want. If they want, they can stay out until midnight. In contrast, in married life, people can’t live freely. Partners get permission from each other to do something or go anywhere. If they have children, they are not independent. When they decide on something, they take into account their children.
Secondly, single people differ from married people in that single people have much less responsibilities. Responsibilities are against themselves in single life. They don’t have to be bold for anyone or anything. They can take the time for themselves. For example, they can spend their leisure time to learn different languages or to do different things which they are interested in. Also, they can feed a pet at their homes freely. In contrast, married people have a lot of responsibilities. Therefore, they are so busy and dependent. They have to earn money in order to take care of their families. At the same time, they have to play different roles in their lives. Otherwise, their families can ruin. Therefore, married people have much more responsibilities than single people have.
Lastly, single people and married people are different in that single people don’t have friend to share their feelings while married people have. Single people sometimes can feel alone. They need somebody to share their happiness and sadness. On the other hand, married people share everything with their husbands or wives. Unlike single people, they can feel confident as emotional.
To summarize, single and married life have advantages and disadvantages. Consequently, being single and married are different from each other in terms of freedom, responsibility and companionship. In my opinion, being married is better than being single because you can find your husband or wife on your side any moment when you need.
